ABOUT THE VIOLINIST

DONNI EVANS

Donni Evans is a freelance violinist currently based in Salt Lake City, Utah. In the past she has been on two tours - ten weeks across the U.S. from Washington to Massachusetts with Our Planet - Live in Concert, a Netflix series touring with live orchestra, and most recently with the Utah Symphony on their Music Elevated: Mighty State Tour of Utah

She has performed onstage with many notable artists, including: Andrea Bocelli, Itzhak Perlman, Ben Folds, Johnny Mathis, Elle King, Capathia Jenkins, Nicolai Znaider, Rob Schneider, among others. 

 

In May 2022 she graduated with her Master of Music in Violin Performance from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where she studied with Mark Kaplan. She received her Bachelors in Music from Brigham Young University in May of 2020, having studied with Monte Belknap and Alexander Woods. 

With over fourteen years of teaching experience, she has taught students ages 4 to 45. She has studied pedagogy with Mimi Zweig at Indiana University, focusing on teaching young students with the Suzuki Method. Teaching her private violin studio has brought great joy and fulfillment to her life. She enjoys watching her students excel as they dedicate themselves to music.

Having spent 20 years mastering the violin, Donni has a wide variety of experience teaching, performing, and recording. With over ten years' experience working in recording studios, she has been part of many professional recording projects including work for Warner Bros., Disney, Good Morning America, as well as other television, video game, and film projects. As an orchestra musician, Donni has been on tours throughout the Philippines and China. She was part of the orchestra that recorded Lea Salonga’s album The Story of My Life: Lea Salonga Live from Manila, as well as the string orchestra featured in Rob Schneider’s Netflix Special Asian Momma, Mexican Kids. Most recently, she has worked in the studio on recording for the upcoming albums of Kurt Bestor and GENTRI. 

In the past eight years, Donni has spent time studying violin and performing abroad in Germany, China and Canada, taking lessons and master classes with renowned performers and teachers. She has performed in many concerts at music festivals, both solo and chamber works.

Donni also is a freelance musician, performing often in Northern Utah at weddings, events and concerts. Currently, she runs Tribeca Ensemble, managing and performing in weddings and events across the state. She is a regular substitute with the Utah Symphony and Ballet West Orchestra. 

She is passionate about her career in performing and teaching and is excited to continue helping people find joy and purpose in their lives through music.
